(the) London Assembly
the London Assembly [the London Assembly]
the group of people who form part of the local government of London, elected by the people of London every four years, at the same time as the ↑Mayor of London. The Assembly is made up of 25 members. 14 of them are directly elected to represent constituencies and 11 are elected to represent all of London, using a form of ↑proportional representation. They examine the Mayor’s activities and policies, and question him about his decisions. They are also able to investigate other issues of importance to ↑Londoners, and make proposals to the Mayor.
